CHEFS NANCY OAKES AND NANCY SILVERTON TAKE THE HELM FOR 2020 CHEFS’ DINNER

New Orleans, Louisiana—The Link Stryjewski Foundation is pleased to announce the chefs participating in its 5th annual charity Bal Masqué weekend events on Friday, January 17 and Saturday, January 18, 2020 in New Orleans. Bal Masqué weekend kicks off each year with a special Chefs’ Dinner at Calcasieu, the Link Restaurant Group’s private event venue above Cochon. This year at the Bal Masqué Chefs’ Dinner on Friday, January 17, Chefs Donald Link and Stephen Stryjewski will be joined by Chef Nancy Oakes (Boulevard, Prospect, and as of fall 2019, Tosca, San Francisco) and Chef Nancy Silverton (Osteria Mozza, Pizzeria Mozza and chi SPACCA, Los Angeles). “I’ve always admired Nancy Oakes’ commitment to the San Francisco community, especially her involvement with Meals on Wheels, and Nancy Silverton’s inspiring philanthropic spirit has shined for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation events for the last ten years,” said Link. “As two of the greatest chefs in the U.S. who are working to better their communities, it is a privilege to welcome them both to New Orleans to join us in making this a better community, as well.”
Oakes has been honored with numerous accolades and awards, including Zagat’s San Francisco Bay Area’s Most Popular Restaurant, the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef in California and its award for Outstanding Restaurant in the United States. Silverton is a world-renowned, award-winning chef (James Beard Foundation Outstanding Chef award recipient) and author, penning ten cookbooks. She was the co-founder and pastry chef of critically acclaimed Campanile and La Brea Bakery before opening Osteria Mozza, a Michelin star restaurant, and Pizzeria Mozza and chi SPACCA.
“For the fifth year, we stand shoulder to shoulder in our mission to set all New Orleans children up to achieve their dreams,” said Stryjewski. “We are honored that these chefs continue to be a part of our event and share their time and talent with Donald and me.” All proceeds from the Bal Masqué go to help nourish and educate New Orleans youth that face extreme poverty, trauma and violence, empowering them to realize their potential and become active, positive members of our community. The culinary lineup has collectively earned 32 James Beard Awards. The following chefs will offer small plates alongside Chefs Link and Stryjewski at the Bal Masqué on Saturday, January 18th: Nina Compton (Compère Lapin, New Orleans), John Currence with Vishwesh Bhatt (City Grocery Restaurant Group, Oxford), Suzanne Goin (Lucques, Los Angeles), Paul Kahan (Big Star, Chicago), Mike Lata (FIG, Charleston), Richard Reddington (Redd Wood, Yountville), Andrea Reusing (Lantern, Chapel Hill), Maggie Scales (Link Restaurant Group, New Orleans), Chris Shepherd (Underbelly Hospitality, Houston), and Frank Stitt (Highlands Bar and Grill, Birmingham). Each chef will present a unique dish, while Mixologist Neal Bodenheimer (Cure Co., New Orleans) will present Caribbean and classic cocktails, in addition to other libations offered throughout the evening, including Champagne Henriot, fine wine and local beer. The event, which coincides with the kickoff of carnival season, also features live music from New Orleans, Cajun Country and the Caribbean, and a silent auction. Attire is black tie or costume. Masks required.
Starting today through October 31, 2019, the Link Stryjewski Foundation will offer Pre-Sale Bal Masque General Admission tickets for $245, a $40 savings on regular priced General Admission tickets. Bal Masqué Chefs’ Dinner tickets, Bal Masqué VIP tickets and group packages are also now available.
